Summer Trend Alert: Slide Sandals

I love summer. I'm definitely a warm weather person. I love being able to leave the house without a heavy jacket or boots. I love having shoes I can slip on and off easily as I don't wear shoes in my house. As a result, this season's hot shoes trend is perfect for me. It's easy, comfortable, stylish and versatile!

The slide sandal has been increasing in popularity over the last few summers. This season it's adding a bow. And that bow seems to be quite a hit. I've been seeing these slide sandals everywhere this season. From weekend errands to the office, these sandals might be one of the more versatile styles in your closet this season.

While the style is fairly standard, you can find these shoes in just about any color or print you desire. These shoes are available in a multitude of retail shops and online. You won't have any trouble finding them. A stylish comfortable sandal for just about any occasion makes for the perfect summer trend.

If you're looking for a new summer flat, this style could be a great option for you. Below are a few styles I've picked out from Nordstrom. Be on the lookout now... I promise you'll be seeing these everywhere!

Beautiful Imperfections

The passing of Kate Spade this week has had my mind running in all kinds of directions. But I think what I keep coming back to is the reminder that life is messy. It's unpredictable, chaotic and rarely as perfect as you see in every social media feed.

I try to remind myself that the beauty of life is in the imperfections. I love hearing and reading about real life situations and events. I love reading memoirs. I love getting past the surface level to the complications underneath. It helps me to understand, appreciate and learn.

The harder part for me is sharing those moments with others. And I suspect, I'm not alone. We feel some sort of pressure to present an external image of having it all together. It can be difficult to be real with the world, even if we appreciate when others are.

I find this to be true with my clients as well. I often find that potential new clients are interested in the types of services that I provide but they're hesitant (if not just downright scared) to let a person into their private life. I come into your home, into your closet and talk to you about your personal style. That can be intimidating.

We shouldn't feel as though we need to conform to any standard, whether it's in our closet or life choices. Try to remember that style is personal. It matters less what you wear, and more how you wear it. It matters how you feel when you wear it. Style is personal. It should be.

We need to remember that the beauty and strength are in the mess. There is an importance to being real with each other. It's not easy but it is so rewarding. So here's what I choose to take away from everything that I've read and heard on the legacy of Kate Spade... there is an importance to being real, a little sparkle goes a long way, and accessories always make an outfit.

It's the Season for White

Memorial Day Weekend is here! It's time to put on your whites! Truthfully, I've been wearing whites for a while but if you haven't pulled yours out yet... now is the time.

Now I'll admit that white is not for everyone. Every complexion is different and you have to find the colors that are right for you. But just because white might not be your color doesn't mean you can't wear any white. Most likely you won't benefit from a white dress or white top. What about white pants or white accessories? These might be more likely to fit into your wardrobe if white doesn't flatter your complexion.

Also don't be afraid to wear white. I've heard lots of people say "oh, you're brave to wear white". They wouldn't wear it for fear of getting it dirty. If that's the case, buy a stain stick and make sure you chose item that is machine washable. Problem solved.

White is definitely a standout color and a versatile one. White goes with everything so you'll have no problem pairing it. White is great dressed up or down for any occasion. I always make the most of my whites by wearing them to any event from a BBQ to drinks out with friends and everything in between. This perfect simple white eyelet dress has been a staple in my summer wardrobe. It's easy, comfortable and flattering... what more could you want!
