Summer Whites

It's the Season for White

Memorial Day Weekend is here! It's time to put on your whites! Truthfully, I've been wearing whites for a while but if you haven't pulled yours out yet... now is the time.

Now I'll admit that white is not for everyone. Every complexion is different and you have to find the colors that are right for you. But just because white might not be your color doesn't mean you can't wear any white. Most likely you won't benefit from a white dress or white top. What about white pants or white accessories? These might be more likely to fit into your wardrobe if white doesn't flatter your complexion.

Also don't be afraid to wear white. I've heard lots of people say "oh, you're brave to wear white". They wouldn't wear it for fear of getting it dirty. If that's the case, buy a stain stick and make sure you chose item that is machine washable. Problem solved.

White is definitely a standout color and a versatile one. White goes with everything so you'll have no problem pairing it. White is great dressed up or down for any occasion. I always make the most of my whites by wearing them to any event from a BBQ to drinks out with friends and everything in between. This perfect simple white eyelet dress has been a staple in my summer wardrobe. It's easy, comfortable and flattering... what more could you want!

What You Need To Know About White Pants

Now that we are past Memorial Day, it's on to summer! If you haven't already broken out your summer whites, you will be soon. So here is what you need to know about buying and wearing white pants this summer!

I know plenty of women that skip the white pant mainly due to fear of getting them dirty. What's the point of purchasing a pair of pants that will constantly require cleaning? Ok, I can see the potential hazards of wearing hite. But for me, the upside is greater than the hazard. I love the look of white in the summer. It also opens up the options in your wardrobe as white can be extremely versatile.

For those of you willing to risk it and interested in white for the summer, what do you need to know? Fit and style are key here as with any pant. Be sure that your white pants are tailored to a length that suits you. You do not want your white pants dragging on the ground or the bottoms will collect dirt. For this reason, a great choice for a white pant would be an ankle length or cropped pant. Also be sure that your white pants are not tight. You don't want your white pants to fit too snuggly, as this could highlight any imperfections you might want to hide. It's better to wear a slim pair of pants that flatters your body shape.

White pants in particular can be challenging as cotton or linen white can be somewhat see-through. And the last thing you want to wear on a hot summer day is a pair of pants you can see through. My suggestion is to purchase a pair of white pants that are lined. An inner lining can go a long way to making white less see through which in turn makes you more comfortable and confident.

In the past, fully lined white pants could be hard to find. I have a pair that I purchase several years ago from the Limited that stood the test of time. They are machine washable and somehow after all these years, still white! When I looked fora second pair I always came up short of being able to find a similar pair. So far, this year, I've seen this type of white pant at both Banana Republic Factory and J.Crew Factory (both highlighted below).

So I hope you decide to indulge in summer whites this season. Be sure to look for a pair that flatter you!

Can I Still Wear White?

So I'm sure you've heard the saying "No white after Labor Day". I don't really follow this rule. I happen to love the look of white and will wear it as often as I can.

White might be considered a summer color. And classic fall colors are dark and jewel toned. But as we are transitioning into fall, you can incorporate fall colors into your summer wardrobe.

I love the idea of winter white. But that doesn't mean I have to pack away my summer whites on Labor Day. I'll continue to wear my summer white jeans well into Fall. Even in the crisp fall air my white jeans will pair well with suede, leather, velvet and cashmere to carry then further in my wardrobe.

If you're in need of a little inspiration take a look below at some outfits I found on Pinterest! I love looking for inspiration on Pinterest to see what others have done and get ideas for my own outfits. If you don't already, follow me or any of your favorite brands on Pinterest to see how they pair items you might have in your closet!

Love the neutral combination of beige and white. The texture of her sweater bring a coziness to the whole outfit!

These suede ankle booties bring these white jeans right into fall! The chunky gray sweater is a perfect match for the distressed jeans creating a casual but trendy outfit.

If you're wondering when you wear that sleeveless chunky turtleneck sweater, early fall is the time! Paired with white jeans, you are still calling on the summer elements while incorporate a fall feel.

This moto jacket is everything to this outfit. The color and fabric is perfect for fall and pairs beautifully with the rest of her neutral outfit. The white jeans stand out against an ivory base. Plus the accessories are on pointe bringing the whole outfit together.

Here we see the fall burgundy color as a standout. The fabric in this outfit is very summer and will her cool on a warm fall day but the color is all she needs to stand in tune with the season!
