It's the Season for White

Memorial Day Weekend is here! It's time to put on your whites! Truthfully, I've been wearing whites for a while but if you haven't pulled yours out yet... now is the time.

Now I'll admit that white is not for everyone. Every complexion is different and you have to find the colors that are right for you. But just because white might not be your color doesn't mean you can't wear any white. Most likely you won't benefit from a white dress or white top. What about white pants or white accessories? These might be more likely to fit into your wardrobe if white doesn't flatter your complexion.

Also don't be afraid to wear white. I've heard lots of people say "oh, you're brave to wear white". They wouldn't wear it for fear of getting it dirty. If that's the case, buy a stain stick and make sure you chose item that is machine washable. Problem solved.

White is definitely a standout color and a versatile one. White goes with everything so you'll have no problem pairing it. White is great dressed up or down for any occasion. I always make the most of my whites by wearing them to any event from a BBQ to drinks out with friends and everything in between. This perfect simple white eyelet dress has been a staple in my summer wardrobe. It's easy, comfortable and flattering... what more could you want!

We're still seeing lots of variations of the "cold" shoulder in the recent trends. Whether it's one shoulder, cold shoulder, off the shoulder or somewhere in between, these styles are still popular and in no rush to disappear.

Not all off the shoulder tops are made the same. Have you noticed? Depending on the style, fabric and elastic these tops can fit very differently. One issue you can encounter is having the elastic top bunch up on you. Continuously pulling down your shirt can be a hassle. You also want to have movement of your arms. There's nothing worse than not being able to move your arms because your top is too constraining. That simply will not do.

So I wanted to share this recent purchase with you. I picked up this top at Banana Republic recently. It is not only comfortable but also flattering and versatile. I was a little unsure at first because I ordered it online and was afraid it might be too wide combined with the large sleeves leaving an overwhelming and unflattering feeling. Turns out, not the case at all. The top is streamlined and the neckline offsets any feeling of the top being overwhelming. Additionally the long tie sleeves help to keep the top and neckline in place.

So if you've been unsatisfied with the off the shoulder trend, this might be a top worth checking out. It's currently available in 3 colors/prints and at a very reasonable price point. Happy Shopping!

Springtime Trend: Gingham

Eventually the weather is going to figure out that it's spring, right? In the meantime, retail stores are pushing spring to those headed out on vacation to warm weather destinations. So while you may still be wearing your winter gear when you head out the door, spring is in full bloom in every retail store.

What trends should you expect to see in stores? One of the most popular at the moment is gingham. You can usually find gingham in the summer months but this year it's a spring trend and it's out in full force. From tops to dresses, pants to accessories, you'll find gingham items everywhere in every shape and size.

So what should you look for? Gingham is an easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe considering its versatility. This trend will easily take you into summer and can be a piece that resurfaces each year. To make the most of this trend, be sure to pick the piece that's right for you. Find the style and color that suits you best. This trend is customizable to your preferred style. Generally, gingham gives off a preppy vibe but there are plenty of options available now that give gingham a little more edge for those looking for something a little different.

Therefore, be sure to do your homework. Find the piece that will work best in your wardrobe. If you're looking a little inspiration, check out a few of the options below:
