Dresses of the Season

I went to Anthropologie today to make a quick return. As I stood at the register, I looked around and thought about how I loved all the color in the space and how much I want to go back and shop. After a winter wardrobe full of black, gray and other neutrals, I'm so ready for spring colors!

The lovely feminine silhouettes in pastels and spring prints are so inviting. Everything is light and effortless. It's the opposite of what we've been living the last 6 months and we simply can't wait to be consumed by it. The downside here of course is that if I were to purchase one of these lovely items it will be sitting in my closet for a little while since Mother Nature doesn't seem to be getting on board with the warmer temperatures of spring.

I'm in love with all the floral patterns and colors of this spring season. However, this color pallette doesn't always work for all skin tones. Be sure to try items on and be honest about how the color works for you. Try different shades of color to see what might work best for you.  The latest arrivals at Anthropologie are totally inviting after a long winter. The dress collection in particular is begging for a warm weather getaway. Need inspiration? Look no further...

Is it Spring yet??

I just got back from a sunny warm vacation and I am in full spring mode. Only I've come back to 30 degree temperatures. Clearly Mother Nature and I have our signals crossed. I've had a taste of warmer temps and I'm now done with winter. It's time to move on. Bring on spring.

Even getting a manicure this weekend the girl next to me was talking to the technician about the new spring colors and what to look forward to. We're all feeling the need to move on from a cold winter. I know you're with me!

So as I am looking through my backup of mail I am starting to see some of the new spring fashions make their way into the retail new arrivals. Easter is just a couple weeks away and if you're in need of a dress, there are options available. One of the trends I am currently in love with is the flowy floral maxi dress. The feminine nature of these dresses is classic spring. The soft silhouette is flattering on multiple body types. They are also incredibly comfortable to wear. The ease of this style will make it a quick favorite.

Here is one example that I recently saw in a mailer that I received from Black House White Market and instantly fell in love with:

Keep an eye out for this style as I expect you'll see it often this spring. Happy shopping!

Fall Floral Trend

Fall cannot seem to decide whether it wants to stick around. The weather here in New England has been cold then warm again, then a little cold then back to warm. Seems Mother Nature hasn't fully committed to the colder temperatures just yet. And to be honest, it's okay with me. I'm not fully ready to break out those warmer sweaters myself.

In spite of the variations in the temperature, the Fall Fashion Trends is full on! One of those fall trends is florals! Floral patterns are everywhere in rich vibrant hues and even more muted tones. We're seeing florals in almost every retail store, from Primark to Saks, this trend is taking off.

Floral patterns can be versatile. Whether you are looking for a more sophisticated classy look or something more laid back for the weekend, this trend is easy to incorporate into your plans. Find the hue that's right for you and the occasion you're planning for. Look for a metallic hue if you want to dress it up. A more colorful pattern can be paired with neutrals to stand out. Available at any price point, florals can also range in style from classic and preppy to boho chic!

One of the perks of this trend is that you may already have floral patterns in your closet! Florals were popular the last couple of spring seasons so there is a good chance you may already have florals to work with. Think of ways to transition those spring florals to fall by adding rich fall tones in your other pieces or accessories.

So no matter the temperatures, florals are the way to go! Layer up your spring or summer florals or invest in a fall floral. Here are a few options in current offerings below. There's a lot to choose from so if you don't see something you love here, check your favorite brand. Chances are they have something perfect for you in this trend!
