Retail is feeling the warmth! “Resort 2020” is out in stores and the new spring lines are coming in. This is great for those who have vacation plans coming up and might be looking for a few new pieces to take with them. But on the daily, we’re still COLD. And we will continue to be cold for months to come. The problem is that you won’t be able to find wear now styles in store in the next few weeks. Why? They are currently on sale at deep discounts and disappearing quick!

So while I know you want to check out the warm weather styles, I also encourage you to take a look at those deep discounts. This is a great opportunity to purchase a couple of additional pieces that could round out your wardrobe or add versatility.

I recently bought a few things for the kids from Old Navy online. I needed to return a pair of pants that didn’t fit and there is store nearby so I popped in to make the return. There was a huge clearance sale going on. It still is. I started looking around the women’s section and end up with 5 pieces in my hands to purchase when I got in the checkout line. These are deals are too good not to share so I’ve included a few of my favorites below.

These pieces are great add-ons to any wardrobe. They are simple, neutral and easy to pair. This is what makes it worthwhile to add items to your wardrobe that you might not be specifically looking for. All of a sudden Thanksgiving is around the corner and I’m seeing signs of Christmas all over! I’m not ready this year. I’m not feeling it yet. I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week.

With that said, my calendar is full of Holiday gatherings, parties and plans. What I should be doing is planning my holiday wardrobe. Instead, all I really want to do is get cozy. The weather here in New England has been fairly miserable lately. It’s been what seems like a constant rain interrupted by gloomy skies. It’s “sit on your couch” kind of weather.

So all I really feel like shopping for are those cozy extras. I want sweatpants and yummy fleece tops. But overall, I don’t normally spend a lot on my cozy wardrobe. I have a few choice items that get me through the winter months on a low budget. I’d rather spend more on my work or party wardrobe. So, if you’re looking for some cute, warm, comfortable, low budget loungewear, check out my picks from the current Old Navy selection! Most of these items come in multiple color choices and they are perfect for keeping warm on these damp, dark, rainy fall days.

The Dress of the Season!

This dress is everywhere. (Pictured above: J. Crew One-shoulder ruffle dress) Go to your favorite website or brand and type in one shoulder ruffle dress and you’ll most likely find at least one dress that mirrors this style. Some versions are cinched at the waist. Others have a ruffle at the bottom. Lengths, fabric and colors vary. But the one shoulder ruffle dress will be in full swing this spring/summer season. However, is this dress right for you?

Just because a trend takes over, doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone. The off the shoulder trend has been incredibly popular but it doesn’t flatter every body type. In the end, trends aside, you want to buy what looks good on you. The only way to know if a new style will flatter you is to try it on. No time pop into a store? Buy a version online and try on at home. What’s your first thought when you look in the mirror?

If you’re first reaction is positive, I think we’re on to something! However, if your first thought is how to tailor this dress to look better on you… then maybe not. Or if your initial reaction is not immediately positive, then be critical of the style. Don’t feel you have to fit the trend. It has to work for you!

With that said, this trend is going to come in a variety of variations. Both one shoulder and off the shoulder will come with ruffles on top, on the bottom and everywhere in between. If this one style doesn’t work for you but you’re set on participating in the trend, keep an eye out for a variation that will flatter you!
