Timing is everything. I was at a wedding in Florida this past weekend. There was a girl attending the wedding as a guest and I noticed her specifically because of her shoes. I've been looking for a new pair of special occasion heels and these shoes she had on were exactly what I would have loved to find. Then I took in her entire outfit and realized that that on the back of her dress was one long gold zipper from bottom to top.
A friend of mine commented that the placement of that zipper made all the difference to her dress and the entire outfit for that matter. And I completely agreed. This very classic black dress she was wearing was transformed the minute she turned around. Suddenly it went from classy and simple to provocative and sexy... very simply with the addition of one perfectly placed zipper. Now had this been a hidden zipper - it would not have the same effect. But we were not looking at a hidden zipper... it was an statement gold zipper... looking for attention.
I love the dress. I love the idea that it is so versatile. It is a great cocktail dress.
Tonight, Melania Trump is wearing the same dress to the first presidential debate. While I love the dress, I can't say that the placement of that zipper belongs in that room tonight. While she may look fantastic in the dress, there is something to be said about dressing for the occasion.
